Telekom Baskets Bonn are just one win away from winning their first title in the club’s history. In the Final Four of the Champions League, coach Tuomas Iisalo’s team beat hosts Unicaja Malaga in a dramatic semi-final 69:67 (41:31) and will play for the trophy against Hapoel Jerusalem on Sunday (8 p.m.) in Spain. The Israelis had also just won 69:68 against defending champion Lenovo Tenerife.

Bundesliga MVP TJ Shorts II with 21 points was once again the decisive man for the Bonners, who only suffered two defeats in the course of the European Cup competition. On Wednesday, the Telekom Baskets entered the play-offs of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) as the winner of the main round. Opponents are the Niners Chemnitz.

The fifth German European Cup title beckons. Alba Berlin won the Korac Cup (1995), Mitteldeutsche BC the FIBA EuroCup Challenge (2004), BG Göttingen the EuroChallenge (2010), and the Fraport Skyliners won the FIBA Europe Cup (2016).
