Maze Mercedes-Box: Schumacher makes for laughs

At the last Formula 1 race weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix, Mick Schumacher caused laughter off the track, as a video on Twitter shows.
The Haas driver apparently got lost in the Mercedes pits and encountered the puzzled faces of Silver Arrow employees as he looked for the right exit.

Ultimately, the 23-year-old found a way out of the maze with little hints. The team around Toto Wolff was visibly amused by the unusual visit.

The action itself probably made Schumacher junior smile as well, but the disappointment was great again after the race at the latest.

The son of record world champion Michael Schumacher performed well throughout the race weekend with his car, so that he was able to book sixth place in qualifying, the best result of his Formula 1 career so far.

During the race, too, Mick Schumacher was fighting for a points position with good lap times, until a technical defect forced him to retire early.

F1: After his victory in Canada, Max Verstappen is relieved

Winner in Montreal just ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr, Max Verstappen, who started in pole position, was satisfied with this very precious success. The driver of the Red Bull team returned to this rhythmic race where the safety car could have played tricks on him. Thanks to his victory, the Dutchman increases his lead over Charles Leclerc.

Despite his pole position, the victory was very far from certain for Max Verstappen who had never won in his career in Montreal. Despite the pressure from Carlos Sainz Jr, the safety car, or the good race from Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen will never have trembled. A performance worthy of a world champion who confirms that the Dutchman is the number one favorite in his own succession. Thanks to Charles Leclerc’s 5th place (starting in 19th position), Max Verstappen widened his gap at the top of the world championship and took another step towards his second title.

Now, the Red Bull driver is 49 points ahead of Charles Leclerc, his main competitor. Although a lot can still happen, Verstappen has taken an additional option and continues to gain confidence after a somewhat difficult start to the season punctuated by several retirements. Christian Horner, his director, took his hat off to him after his victory in Canada. “We just have to take race after race. We have started a good series and it is great to go to Silverstone leading…

“What gap was that?”: This is how the German crash happened

Mick Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel’s epidemic season continues!

Haas driver Schumacher was well on his way to scoring his first championship points in the 26th Formula 1 race when he collided with Vettel. On the radio, the blame was initially placed on each other.

“What gap was that? I didn’t see that!” Vettel asserted on the pit radio. “That was clearly my curve,” called Schumacher, who now has to be patient.

Schumacher and Vettel talk about crash
“It’s always easy to talk about it afterwards. If you look at it that way, I could have just stayed behind or tried harder to pass. In the end it’s a shame for both of us. I’ll definitely talk to him about it,” Schumacher said on Sky.

Vettel also struggled with the situation: “It’s stupid and bitter for both of us. I’m sorry we’re both out. I thought I had the corner, was in front, and wasn’t expecting him. When I saw him it was too late. I have to see it, but of course it’s a shame for us.”

While Vettel then had to give up the race in the pits, Schumacher fell back to the end of the field when world champion Max Verstappen won in the Red Bull.

Vettel has to start in Miami from the pit lane
For ex-world champion Vettel in the Aston Martin, the race had already gotten off to a bad start. After technical problems, the man from Heppenheim had to start from the pit lane.

Schumacher gained two positions before the start because, along with Vettel, Lance Stroll also had problems with the fuel temperature and drove out of the pits. The next setback for Vettel in a messed up season.

Schumacher, on the other hand, was often involved in duels in midfield – including with his teammate Kevin Magnussen. He fought doggedly for every position and the supervision of the first championship points.

After two thirds of the race he was still in twelfth place, but then he made up places and was now in virtual 8th place due to a time penalty for Fernando Alonso – then the drama began.

Charles Leclerc, pole position at the Miami Grand Prix: “Finishing the job tomorrow will be my goal”

The Ferrari driver signed his third pole position of the season in Miami and says he is ready to take up the challenge against Red Bull who are still very fast in a straight line.

Charles Leclerc (pole position, Ferrari): “The last race weekend (at Imola) didn’t go well for me. I made a mistake and today (Saturday) everything went well. Starting from pole position, finishing the job tomorrow will be my only objective. It’s great to be here in the States, the fans are amazing. The sport has grown in recent years and it’s really nice to see everyone in the stands. There are a lot of Ferrari fans here. (Regarding the contribution of DRS in the race) They (Red Bull) are very fast in a straight line but we are faster in the corners. It will therefore be an interesting challenge to take up in the race. »

Carlos Sainz (2nd, Ferrari): “I recovered a bit from the crash (on Friday). It was not at all easy to regain confidence on a circuit as difficult as this one in Miami. I kept a cool head until Q3, I think I did some good laps. It wasn’t quite enough to get pole position but given where I was starting from, I’ll accept it. I haven’t done any long stints yet, I haven’t tried the car with a full tank of gas yet. So the grid laps will be the first ones where I get that feeling, which could be quite difficult [for the race]. But at the same time, I feel confident in the car. Driving is really nice. I think we can do a good job. »

Max Verstappen (3rd, Red Bull): “I’m happy with this session because I only did 5 laps yesterday (Friday), I tried to find a correct balance on this car. I was also quite surprised at the level of competitiveness of the car in qualifying, it’s not an easy track to tackle. Of course, I would have liked to be in pole position but we have come a long way, we did a good job. We should have made the weekend easier from the start but we still have good chances to defend for tomorrow (Sunday). The car behaves better and better and I remain confident. It’s quite slippery off the line but a lot can happen in the race, it may be hotter and you’ll have to manage the behavior of the tyres. »
