The filming of “The Witcher” season 3 is underway

Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer return for new fantasy-packed adventures on Netflix.
The third season of Netflix’s popular fantasy series “The Witcher” has begun filming. It announces the streaming service with a newly released picture of the acting district from the first day of production.

Here we see Henry Cavill (Geralt of Rivia), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer of Vengerberg) and Freya Allan (Princess Cirilla of Cintra) huddled together in the cold waiting for the next scene. Netflix has also released an official description of the third season where Chris’ magical powers are in focus:

“When monarchs, magicians and beasts on the continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri and hides her, to protect his newly reunited family. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers. Instead, they discover that they have ended up in the middle of a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic and treason. They have to fight back and put everything at stake – or risk losing each other forever. “

The first season of “The Witcher” was released in December 2019, and was followed by a second season (delayed by the pandemic) in December 2021. So far, there is no release date for season 3.

South Korean “Pachinko” is one of the best new TV series of the year

The lavish South Korean venture from Apple TV + is an epic generational drama in the style of “The Crown”, “Roots” and “The Emigrants”.

To sum it all up very briefly: “Pachinko” is a title that will be on most of this year’s top lists of this year’s best TV series. In other words, this is definitely a title that makes it worth giving Apple TV + a try, if you haven’t already. When you are careful, Samuel L. Jackson’s “The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray” and Gary Oldman’s upcoming “Slow Horses” should also be harvested in one go.

The plot of “Pachinko” will revolve around the Korean girl Sunja, who we get to follow from birth in the late 19th century in a Japanese-occupied Korea, until 1989 when her granddaughter returns to her home in Japan, after first having lived in New York. We will get to follow the family through three different generations where the older version of Sunja will be played by Oscar winner Youn Yuh-jung (“Minari”). In other roles we will see Lee Min-Ho, Jin Ha, Minha Kim, Soji Arai, Jung Eun-chae, Mari Tamamoto, Anna Sawai, Steve Sang-Hyun Noh and Jimmi Simpson.

After having had a preview of the series myself, I can confirm that the series is both and looks extremely lavish – and will definitely appeal to a certain type of viewer. Especially if you have previously appreciated similar productions and stories in the style of “Roots”, “The Emigrants” or last year’s “The Underground Railroad”. It has previously been claimed that “Pachinko” has had a budget equivalent to the Netflix series “The Crown”, which is one of Netflix’s most expensive and lavish TV series.

  • Spanish fans’ opinion on the batman movie

“Pachinko” may not be a series for those looking for fast or bloody action, as we have seen in the South Korean series “Kingdom”, “Squid Game” and “All of Us Are Dead”. This is rather a series where practically every movie frame is so beautifully composed that it is possible to pause the series in principle at any time and have a photo that can be framed and hung on the wall. It combined with really good acting, music and a well-written (but maybe a little slower than what will suit everyone’s taste) story, makes “Pachinko” one of the strongest new TV series of the year.

Netflix: this series that people love to hate renewed for a season 7

And seven! The “Riverdale” series, broadcast in France every week on Netlflix, has been renewed by the American channel The CW for a seventh season.

Will you take a bit of Riverdale again? The series for teens, offered in France every week on Netflix, has been renewed by the American channel The CW for a seventh season. For the time being, this additional season is not described by the network as the last, thus suggesting that the end is not imminent.

Among the other series renewed this night by The CW, other popular programs such as Flash (renewed for a season 9, thus becoming the longest series of the Arrowverse), but also Superman and Lois (season 3). Which bodes well for the DC Comics franchise broadcast by the American channel!

Adapted from the Archie Comics comic books, Riverdale follows the adventures of teenagers in a small American town. While the series began as a teen-drama with a dark thriller feel, the show has since evolved into something more self-parodic, with plots increasingly oriented towards the fantastic.

The six seasons of Riverdale can be found now in full on Netflix.

Teenage anxiety, humor and joy in the trailer for “Ms. Marvel” at Disney +

The first trailer for the TV series “Ms. Marvel” offers a younger superhero than we are used to.

Already on March 30, it’s time for the premiere of “Moon Knight” at Disney +, but a few months after that, the slightly more youthful and easy-going “Ms. Marvel” awaits.

“Ms. Marvel” is created by Bisha K. Ali who has worked on “Loki” and the Netflix series “Sex Education”, which sounds like a wonderful and welcome cocktail in MCU. In the lead role, we see the newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a teenager with roots in Pakistan who becomes the resilient superhero Ms. Marvel.

In a first trailer for the series, we see Kamala balance the school, the family and their superpowers in a type of story that I think is missing in MCU.

The superhero Ms. Marvel first appeared in comic books in 2013 in an issue of “Captain Marvel”. The character was created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson, Adriana Alphona and Jamie KcKelvie and is the first Muslim hero of Marvel.

In the comic books, she gets her powers from an event that caused a lot of people’s dormant powers to be awakened. That she calls herself Ms. Marvel has to do with her taking over the mantle after her idol Carol Danvers, after she becomes Captain Marvel. Her superpower is that she can change the shape of herself and her body parts, so that she can, for example, grow in size or make her fists gigantic.

Darth Maul was cut from “Obi-Wan Kenobi”

In an earlier script for “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, it was thought that the villain Darth Maul would return, portrayed by the actor Ray Park.

On May 25, the TV series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” premieres at Disney +, where Ewan McGregor returns in the role of Jedi Master 17 years after “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Dark”.

We know that Hayden Christensen will make a long-awaited comeback as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader, as we will be offered a new confrontation between him and his old Jedi master. However, another famous sith could also have appeared in the series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was thought that Darth Maul (who appeared in “Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Dark Threat” from 1999) would be one of the biggest villains in the series. In addition, actor Ray Park would return to the role.

According to THR sources, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau thought that the previous script of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” was too similar to their successful “The Mandalorian”. In the old script, Darth Maul would be one of the villains chasing Obi-Wan and a young Luke Skywalker through the galaxy. In addition, Darth Vader was not present at all.

The “The Mandalorian” creators are also said to have pushed the gang behind “Obi-Wan Kenobi” to “bet bigger”, which eventually led Lucasfilm director Kathleen Kennedy to pause production of the series. However, a source from Lucasfilm says that neither Darth Maul nor the actor Ray Park were supposed to return.

Instead, we will see Darth Vader, as well as the villain Grand Inquisitor who has his origins in the cartoon TV series “Star Wars Rebels”. Darth Maul has appeared in both “Rebels” and the TV series “Clone Wars”, as well as a short scene in “Solo: A Star Wars Story”.

“Obi-Wan Kenobi” premieres on May 25 at Disney + and will hopefully be better than the latest series, “The Book of Boba Fat”, which received a 2 out of 5 rating by MovieZine.

“God of War” will be a TV series on Amazon Prime Video

Sony

Amazon Studios wants Kratos to slaughter gods on their streaming service in “God of War”.
To say the least, it has become popular to make TV series and movies based on TV series, with successful “Uncharted” in cinemas and big series like “The Last of Us” and “Halo” underway.

Now the site Deadline says that Amazon Prime Video is in the early stages of a TV series based on “God of War” together with Sony Pictures Television and Playstation Productions.

The project has not gotten the thumbs up yet, but it is “The Expanse” creators Mark Fergus and Hawk Osby and “The Wheel of Time” showrunner Rafe Judkins who are working on it.

Amazon Studios has other game series underway such as “Fallout” starring Walton Goggins and “Mass Effect”.

The “God of War” series premiered on Playstation 2 back in 2005 and has had several successful sequels. The series is about the Spartan warrior Kratos who travels around in Greek mythology in search of the head of the gods. In 2018, the latest installment for Playstation 4 was released, which was a slightly more serious father and son story that won Game of the Year at the Game Awards. The game was recently released for PC.

“Euphoria” is one of the most watched TV series ever on HBO

Only “Game of Thrones” has managed to draw more viewers to HBO than “Euphoria”‘s second season.
The second season of “Euphoria” has been hailed by both TV critics and regular TV viewers around the world. Variety also now reports that the series is the second most watched TV series (counted in the US) since 2004, where only “Game of Thrones” has managed to attract more viewers per episode on average.

The second season of “Euphoria” has been watched by an average of 16.3 million viewers per episode, with the season premiere at the beginning of the year attracting almost 19 million American viewers to date. It therefore came as no great surprise when HBO chose to renew “Euphoria” with a third season already a month ago. However, it remains to be seen how many people choose to give the prequel series “House of the Dragon” a chance later this year, whether it will reach the same heights as “Game of Thrones” succeeded during its heyday or not.

The season finale of “Euphoria” was released yesterday and tied together a touch of absolutely fantastic season, which at least in my opinion managed to get an even better season than the first turn. Admittedly, the plot still follows Rue (Zendaya) and her problems with drugs, which also affect her schoolmates and family in various ways. But by keeping her story a little more independent to specific episodes (where the fifth; “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird”, may well be one of the best TV episodes of the year), we have during the second season also seriously learned know Lexi (Maude Apatow) and a bunch of other characters significantly better. An approach I would like to see continued during the third season!
