Jason Momoa stars in “Minecraft” as a feature film

“Napoleon Dynamite” director Jared Hess gets to take the gaming phenomenon to the cinema screen.
New attempt to get that “Minecraft” -based feature film, which has been reported since at least 2014.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that no one less than Jason Momoa is negotiating the lead role. The “Aquaman” and “Dune” star could be the poster name the project needs to move forward. Not only that, Warner Bros. has found a new director in Jared Hess (“Napoleon Dynamite”). The plot is currently unknown.

As you may remember, Hollywood has been trying to get a film adaptation of the well-known game franchise for a long time. Among other things, there has been talk of Shawn Levy (“Night at the Museum”) in the register and Steve Carell in front of the camera. Other directors have come and gone, so it remains to be seen if the studio has finally found the right team to take “Minecraft” to the big screen.

Controversial DC movies like “Black Adam”, “The Flash” and “Aquaman 2” are delayed.
The Corona pandemic seems to be almost over, but reversed film premieres are still very much a reality.

Warner Bros. has just moved on among its upcoming superhero films: among other things, “The Flash” and the “Aquaman” sequel will be moved to 2023. This is because covid is doing it with the creation of the special effects, writes Variety.

The animated “DC League of Super-Pets” will be moved to the summer and “Black Adam” will not appear until this autumn. They are also taking the opportunity to give new dates to the Willy Wonka film with Timotheé Chalamet and the shark sequel “Meg 2”.

The good news in this context is that “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” actually comes earlier. David F. Sandberg’s sequel to the hugely popular “Shazam!” was planned for the summer of 2023, but now we just have to wait until next winter.

We look forward to giving the cinema audience “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” as a Christmas present this year. Families of all ages will like it, comments Jeff Goldstein, Head of Distribution at Warner Bros.

A new trailer takes the opportunity to ride the Batman wave with a focus on Gotham City’s dark knights, whose voice is confirmed to be none other than Keanu Reeves. Also starring are John Krasinski as Superman, as well as Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart as the doggies Krypto and Ace.

For “Matrix” star Keanu Reeves, the role is an old dream come true. In 2014, he said in interviews that he has always wanted to play Batman. It is rumored that he was offered the lead role in “Batman Forever” (1995) before Val Kilmer tricked it. Soon, the audience will see (or at least hear) how well he fits in with Bruce Wayne and his masked alter ego.

Deadline writes that the two stars will also produce the film. Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman returns to write the sequel. However, it is not clear if Francis Lawrence will direct this time as well.

Smith is currently nominated for an Oscar for the third time in his career for the drama “King Richard”. Jordan makes his directorial debut at the end of the year with the boxer film “Creed III”. This will be their first joint project.
