Right after Francis Ford Coppola showcased his latest film “Megalopolis,” he emphasized that it wouldn’t be his final work. The 84-year-old director is already working on something new.
Although it’s currently unclear what Coppola’s new project will be about, he himself says about it: It definitely won’t be cheap, but I’m not sure if it can be called an “epic film.”

“Megalopolis” – what will Coppola’s film be about?
Coppola wrote the screenplay for “Megalopolis” back in the 1980s. The film is announced as an epic tale of political ambitions, genius, and conflicting interests. Its action is supposed to take place in a utopian version of New York (called New Rome), which is destroyed as a result of an unimaginable catastrophe. The aesthetics of the work are supposedly reminiscent of the tradition of Roman epic. The director financed the project out of his own pocket. He invested over $120 million in the film, selling some shares in his family winery.
The cast of “Megalopolis” includes Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Giancarlo Esposito, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Aubrey Plaza, Chloe Fineman, Kathryn Hunter, Jason Schwartzman, and Dustin Hoffman.
