The story in the film Exhuma begins with a portrait of the life of a wealthy family living in Los Angeles (LA), United States, who are experiencing terror and mysterious events.
If left unchecked, they fear it will endanger the safety of their newborn baby. Eventually, the family seeks help from a pair of powerful shamans, Bong-gil (Lee Do-hyun) and Hwa-rim (Kim Go-eun), who are very famous.
They hear that the two powerful shamans are capable of expelling various evil spirits. Hwa-ra and Bong-il eventually accept the offer and come to America.
But as they investigate the family’s issues, they realize that this is no ordinary case. Eventually, they seek help from a feng shui expert named Sang-deok (Choi Min-sik) and a renowned grave digger named Yeung-geun (Yoo Hae-jin).
After conducting a thorough investigation and a series of strange rituals, Hwa-ra and Bong-il discover that there is a curse from their ancestors causing the terror.
Even more terrifyingly, the grave of their ancestors apparently brings its own curse because their ancestors are cursed.
Unexpectedly, these four people end up resurrecting a very dangerous cursed spirit. So how do they save themselves?
