We have one bad, one good, and one great news for fans of “28 Days Later” and Cillian Murphy. The actor won’t appear in the latest installment of the new cycle, but we’ll see him in a cameo in the next one, and he’ll play the main role in the third.
So far, these pieces of information haven’t been confirmed, but last year Murphy himself said he was “available” and interested in participating in Danny Boyle’s and Alex Garland’s sequels. So it’s reasonable to expect that the creators took advantage of this availability offer.
“28 Years Later” – what do we know about the film?
The new installment has been planned as the opening of a new trilogy. Danny Boyle will direct the first one, and Alex Garland will write the script for all three.
Cillian Murphy, the star of “28 Days Later,” will serve as a producer for the first part.
The actor, nominated for an Oscar this year for his role in “Oppenheimer,” portrayed a man who wakes up from a coma in an abandoned hospital in “28 Days Later.” He soon realizes that the city has been overrun by a deadly virus that causes uncontrollable aggression in people.
The film won, among other awards, the European Film Award for cinematography by Anthony Dod Mantle.
The budget for each of the new installments has been planned at $75 million.
