Cavill played the prototype of Bond. Would he still like to be 007?

The search for the next James Bond actor continues. Aaron Taylor-Johnson still seems to be the favorite, as according to the British tabloid The Sun, he was offered the role of agent 007. However, Henry Cavill is still mentioned among the candidates. The former Superman was asked about his willingness to play the world’s most famous spy in a recent interview.

Henry Cavill: “I only know rumors”

During an interview on The Rich Eisen Show, the 40-year-old actor responded to another question about the role of James Bond in upcoming productions:

“I only know rumors, the same ones everyone else has heard. Maybe I’m too old already. Maybe not yet. The decision belongs to Barbara Broccoli and Mike Wilson [producers of the 007 series – ed. note], we’ll see what plans they have.”

In his latest film, loosely based on real events, “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare,” Cavill portrays a character who actually existed. Gus March-Phillipps was a British officer and agent of the Special Operations Executive, a cell engaged in intelligence and sabotage behind enemy lines. During World War II, Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond novels, worked for this institution, among others. The character portrayed by Cavill was supposed to be one of the inspirations for creating the character of 007.

Referring to these facts in the context of a potential role, the actor remarked, “That’s a good first step, isn’t it?”

“Argylle – Secret Agent” – Henry Cavill as a character from a novel series

Henry Cavill’s latest film remains “Argylle – Secret Agent,” an action comedy directed by Matthew Vaughn. The protagonist of the film is Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard), a writer creating a series of books about the Argylle agent (Cavill). When she finds herself in a deep creative crisis, struggling with writer’s block, she accidentally gets involved in an international spy scandal.

In other roles: Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Cena, and Dua Lipa.
